Accounts Assistant

Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The Accounts Assistant will support the day to day running of the finance function, with credit control as a critical and priority responsibility. The role is key to maintaining strong cashflow through proactive debtor management, whilst also assisting with purchase ledger, bank processing, and month end activities.\n  \n Job Description: \n  \n Credit Control (Critical Priority)\n \nAs the Accounts Assistant you will take full ownership of the sales ledger and debtor position \nProactively chase overdue debts by phone and email in line with agreed credit terms \nAs the Accounts Assistant you will build and maintain strong working relationships with customers to ensure timely payment \nResolve payment queries efficiently, liaising with sales, operations, and senior finance staff where required \nAs the Accounts Assistant you will monitor credit limits and highlight any risks or deteriorating payment trends \nAs the Accounts Assistant prepare weekly debtor reports, highlighting aged debt, high‑risk accounts, and actions taken \nSupport cashflow forecasting by providing accurate and timely debtor information \nPrepare, send, notify and follow up on project-based and recurring invoices.

Accounts & Finance Support\n \nAs the Accounts Assistant you will assist with bank reconciliations \nSupport month‑end processes, including accruals and ledger reviews \nAs the Accounts Assistant you will maintain accurate finance records and filing in line with internal controls General\n \nRespond to internal and external finance queries professionally \nSupport audit requests and documentation as required \nIdentify opportunities to improve processes and controls within the finance function \nCarry out ad‑hoc finance tasks as requested by the Head of Finance / Financial Controller Candidate Requirements:  \n  \n Essential\n \nPrevious experience in an accounts assistant or similar finance role \nStrong credit control experience with a proven ability to reduce debtor days \nConfident communicator, comfortable chasing debt by phone and email \nHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail \nStrong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload \nGood Excel skills (formulas, v-look ups) and experience using accounting systems / ERPs Desirable\n \nExperience in a manufacturing or project based business \nExposure to multi company or group environments \nAAT qualification or studying towards AAT This role is commutable from: Keele, Newcastle under Lyme, Stoke on Trent, Stone, Crewe, Alsager, Kidsgrove and surrounding areas\n  \n This role would suit candidates with the following experience: Accounts Assistant, Credit Control, Sales Ledger, Finance Assistant or similar\n  \n Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm / 9:00 am – 5:00 pm\n Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 Per Annum\n\n Brampton Recruitment are an independent Commercial and Accounts & Finance recruitment agency working in partnership with employers spanning Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire regions
